And the Green Building Council Network grows again….

The World Green Building Council is excited to announce the formal acceptance of GBC España, Poland GBC, Dutch GBC and Singapore GBC as the next fully established Green Building Council to the GBC Network.

This brings the number of fully established Councils to 20, with an additional 46 groups working to establish GBCs within their respective countries. Each GBC works within their respective countries to promote the market transformation towards a sustainable built environment. Collectively, the WorldGBC’s network of GBCs represents one of the most significant forces available to have an impact globally on reducing carbon emissions.

WorldGBC Chair wins Leadership in Sustainability Award

The WorldGBC's Chair, Tony Arnel received the inaugural Australian Institute of Architects’ (AIA) Leadership in Sustainability Award last night. Mr Arnel received the award for his dedication to improving the sustainability of Australia’s built environment.  This new, national AIA Award recognises an individual’s outstanding work achieved through their architecture, effective advocacy, education and community engagement. Mr Arnel is also the Chair of the Green Building Council of Australia and one of its founding directors.  According to Chief Executive of the GBCA, Romilly Madew, Tony has been instrumental in driving the green building agenda both domestically and internationally.

 
Join us in Singapore for WorldGBC’s 2010 International Congress – Mark the Date!

This year’s World GBC International Congress will be taking place in Singapore, September 13-14th 2010.  The Singapore GBC will be hosting Green Building Councils from around the world, and showcasing the advances in green building practices taking place in Singapore and the Asia-Pacific Region.  This Congress aims to bring the global GBC network together to share ideas, information, and strengthen our collective voice.   Details will be posted on the WorldGBC website as they are finalized, please check back in May for more details.   We look forward to seeing you in Singapore!   

 

 

 
WorldGBC announces Jane Henley as new CEO
The World Green Building Council (WorldGBC) has appointed New Zealander Jane Henley as its new Chief Executive Officer.
 
Ms Henley will step down as CEO of the New Zealand Green Building Council (NZGBC) to take up the role, beginning in April. She is currently on the board of the WorldGBC.

Media Release: World Green Building Council and International Union of Architects sign MOU

The World Green Building Council (WorldGBC) and the International Union of Architects (UIA) took a step toward strengthening their working relationship when they signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in Sydney today. 

The MOU defines the collaborative relationship between the UIA and the WorldGBC and sees the two organisations agreeing to form a partnership to accomplish shared goals of improving energy efficiency and reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the world’s large cities.
